Hi all, what couriers are you using to send small parcels out during the current situation?

Looking at labelling them up and a courier collects them from me/door step.

Thanks

I've been using Hermes as they collect but they've already delivered two empty parcels. One ripped open and the other one was clearly cut open with a knife. I guess hermes don't pay much so they help themselves every so often.

I'd use UPS through interparcel.com for big or more expensive stuff, they'll collect too but it's a bit more expensive than dropping it off.

What size are the parcels? Hermes are the cheapest for smalls but then it all depends on the couriers.

I quite often use Royal Mail now. Buy and print the postage of their website, Click and Drop, and then post the item in the postbox or parcel box.

Cheers lads. Just some games/free stuff to send out. Light stuff. I have no printer. I could buy stamps online up to the cost of the parcel if I go Royal Mail Route or try Hermes

Thanks

I had an issue with hermes,2 weeks ago,I sold some non arcade related stuff on ebay, buyer paid and I sent via hermes, then they claimed to have tried delivering the parcel 3 times and it's now being returned to sender. Now bearing in mind we were on full lockdown and the buyer said they have not left the house for 3 weeks,it seemed a bit odd, then yesterday I received a hermes parcel not even for me,or the item I sent, just some random ornament, and the item tracking I sold now says returned to sender, just when I thought they had lost my original parcel,I had the buyer tell me,he had just had the parcel left in his porch!.so I seem to have some other poor sods parcel been sent to me for some reason?

That's my concern with Hermes.

I used to use Collect plus all the time when I had access to a printer.

Royal Mail have been good for smaller items but gets expensive over 2kg.

I've had no issues with Hermes for large / heavy and small / light stuff for a few years now

One issue recently with a PCB that went to Italy. Tracking showed delivery was attempted twice but recipient was not at home (this was in Dec 19 before all the CV19 lockdown)

It then showed being returned to sender and after 3 months of not receiving it back I refunded the very patient buyer, and filed a claim for loss through Parcel2Go.

I put it down to the Italian postal system, not Hermes.

What do you know, 5 months after sending the parcel it arrived back with me!
Must have been held in Italy for months during the lockdown

I've had no issues with Hermes either (yet!), but other couriers f**k up too, not just Hermes. RM/Parcel force ended up sending one of my packages for a weeks holiday in Ireland, when it's destination was actually Italy.

No problem sending with Hermes, but I've had stuff recieved at the wrong address. Not the wrong house number, but the wrong post code and even street name - quite how the guy managed that when the street name is literally outside my gate I've no idea.

I’ve used Hermes for years sending stuff and never had a single problem with them.

Earlier this week had a problem with DPD though, apparently driver couldn’t find our house despite him being parked across my drive twice on the same day. Turned out he didn’t have my parcel on the van but logged it as “driver could not find your address” on the tracking. To DPD’s credit their customer service was very good, informed me that parcel was still sitting in their depot, arranged AM delivery the following day and followed up with a courtesy telephone call later in the afternoon.

That's true, any courier can mess up. I had 2 parcels going to different buyers in France years ago and the courier stuck the wrong sticker on each box despite the correct address showing. Careless. Took a lot of effort to sort out.

One buyer was receiving a New Neo Geo Hyper 64 mobo with 4 new boxed games and the other buyer was receiving a New Neo Geo Hyper 64 mobo but 3 used loose games.

As each buyer received the wrong parcel - one was in receipt of more than he paid for and benefited from the couriers error.

It took a lot of "persuasion" for this buyer to do the right thing and forward the parcel to the other buyer.

I covered the shipping costs, raised a claim with paypal for negligence and received a full refund of the original shipping costs. I deducted the money I had given to the buyers for the shipping cost to each other and then gave them the difference for their help.

I've been using DPD to pick up from my house, I just print out labels and stick them on. No issues at all and decent price for UK and Europe... I've stopped sending outside of Europe for now as it gets too expensive.

Hermes make Yodel look competent and I avoid them at all costs.
