I am a bit confused on how to get bet picture out my snes , MD and n64 on a modern Tv. My TV which consoles have access to is 1080P with Scart, VGA , HDMI and wii currently uses that 5 lead cable !

These have been recommended I just need the MD 2 one a convertor for md 1 and the n64 does the snes aswell

This though whacks it upto about £135.

Is there an alternative for a box for same price that will do both etc, what are people using in their set ups these days. Or is it just better to pick up a 14inch crt !!

Any help appreciated.

the best options are a retrotink or an OSSC

i have an OSSC and they are pretty good but can suffer depending on what TV you have(they arent great on both of my Sony Bravias but are fine on some of my others)

i think the tink is the very best option, but it is pretty expensive

I’ve got pretty much the exact same problem/dilemma as you.

I experimented with purchasing a cheap RCA to HDMI converter for our SNES, N64 and GameCube consoles. Our TV is a 32” Panasonic LED with 3 HDMI inputs and 1 RCA input. I was using the original Nintendo Multi-Out leads connected to the RCA-HDMI converter (powered by a separate 5V USB power source). Basically the picture quality was no different on the SNES and GameCube compared to connecting it directly to the RCA inputs on the TV. The converter didn’t like the N64 at all, picture was constantly jumping and blacking out.

I’ve found the best solution picture quality wise (for my setup), is to manually put the TV into 4:3 aspect ratio when using the SNES and N64, and set the GameCube games to Widescreen and leave it defaulted to auto setting on the Panasonic. All 3 consoles are now plugged into a 3-in-1 RCA splitter (with a manual input select) going out to a single cable connected to the RCA input on the TV. There’s probably a better way with more expensive equipment but it’s acceptable to me at the moment.

I’ll be watching this thread with interest as if anyone has tried something else that gives a great picture then I might give it a go.

I’ve got one of these Wii2HDMI for the Wii to work on my OLED (HDMI only)
It upscales. That’s about all I can say.
No more ugly than my last LCD TV was though (which had a component input for the Wii).
Ah, I remember, I did a comparison vs. my CRT:
Guess it depends what you want from an image. I get warm fuzzies seeing the Wii on a CRT again - I didn't realise interlaced could still look that nice.

I second these options. The OSSC can indeed be a bit fiddly, but the PQ is really good in 2x modes and it has worked with everything I have thrown at it (has to be RGB though).

Yeah it's no replacement for a proper CRT, but it is about as good as you're gonna get for modern TVs and generally will save you money compare to buying solutions for individual consoles.
