Hi everyone,
I hope someone can point me in the right direction -
What sort of PSU do I need to replace my knackered one in my RT
cab? Bit of a n00b when it comes to psu's I'm afraid.
Hope one of you guru's can help?

Ha. Yer sorry about that - it is in a bit of a state. It didn't work when I got it so I thought I'd get a new PSU and then get the dyson out ;)

Still, anyone...?

hi there,
basically the same, both power supplies are the same as a pacmania or galaga 88.
power brick is an atari ireland one,and the other is an Astec power supply model SA40-1304

Or you could leave the transformer in place (assume working) and change the psu for a switcher, it looks like one that's been decased, no specific voltages required for RT afaik.

Get the meter out and check what's doing what first though

Andy.

I'll probably end up blowing myself up ;) Don't know diddly about power supplies I'm afraid..but thanks for the replies though. I need to get a switcher then? I'll see if I can locate one. one other thing, the PSU is the thing at the top of the screen right?

RT LIVES!
PSU was ok in the end. It was the isolator switch that had snapped off in the 'off' position by the main power in

Quick trip to Maplins and £3.49 later, new switch, new flex, it lives. Just need to clean the CPO up now as it's in a bad way.

I'm a tad chuffed now !

Quick update ...and after it was powered up for more than 10 seconds, the psu is smoking more than Dot Cotton on a good day :) Look like I need a new one. Great!

Hi guys.

Sorry for diggin' out such an old thread...but I wanted to know what this yellow wire is for. There are ~9.5Ohms to the blue wire and ~0.4 to the brown,

Any clue?

A friend of mine assumes that this is for different input voltages....220V or 230V. Can you confirm?

Cheers
Thorsten
