Well today started off badly. Went to little Mini Cooper s to go to work and flatfish tyre.
Pumped it up after work and went to a few garages to get it fixed.

NO was the answer from all of them. You need a new tyre we don’t repair run flat,

What’s the bloody point in them???
I’m more than capable of changing a wheel if I get a puncture.

£20 for a puncture repair if normal tyre. £140 to replace run flat which is almost new.

So that tells me if I get a puncture in my mini it’s around £140 a time to get fixed.

Another con with owning a car.

Moan over!!! More stuff to sell to pay for it.

First time I have heard that. Find a back street tyre place, I know the places I use would charge a fiver or £6 for a puncture repair and they will do a run flat.. try Kirky Tyres in Kirkintilloch (lol - like as if you are passing), they'll do it for a fiver.

Thanks for the heads up. Phoned 11 garages and only 1 would repair as they say the strength of the tyre is compromised if you drive for long on it and don’t know how long it’s been flat.
Will try again tomorrow.

The point of run flat is just that, you run on it flat instead of changing it until you can get to the nearest garage for a replacement, so your car doesn't have to give space up for a spare tyre, they have re-enforced walls, but once you have run flat on them you have ultimately damaged the tyre walls in doing so.

Yes, anyone wishing to sell tyres and with a company health and safety policy will tell you that too. Quite right it is as well. But in the real world, if you have a puncture you repair it. If the tyre is actually proven to be knackered once you have attempted a repair, then it is time to replace it. You don't listen to sales folk.

Yes, but run flat are normally on cars with no spare, and once flat you distort the walls, I've seen less than 5 meters ruin a standard tires inner walls, they are purposley desingned to get you to the nearest garage, it's nothing to do with sales patter!

A mate of mine had a flat tyre with those on, he didn't run on it and blew it up when he came out of work and drove to a tyre fitting chain. The guy takes the wheel off and removes the tyre then informs my mate of the news he cant repair it, has none in stock and will need to order a new tyre. Needing to get home he asks the guy to refit the tyre and will come back the next day but he refused, obviously pissed off at the guy he asks why the f@%ck did he take wheel of if he knew it couldn't be repaired and had no replacement in stock. With no other option but to leave the car he gets a taxi home and gets a lift to work the next day. After work he goes to pick up his car and pay the bill only to see the firm pull the exact same scam to another person with a puncture who also had to get a taxi home.

I avoid the chains and use small firms who dont try to sell you a set of pads and discs just for driving on their forecourt.
