Thanks, never looked at the 2600. I think you can do true multiplexing (it only has two sprites so you kind of need to) on it, timing is incredibly tight. I might one day look at software on it, but my focus is arcade hardware. I've just got back on with a different project, might have something special to show in the new year.

Looking forward to seeing your new project. Atari has 5 sprites , but only 2 are big enough for ghosts/pacman. Maybe you can enlarge the others using zoom feature though? Not sure.

Nice find. Looks like it took until 2015 though! What I don't understand though, is the original (much maligned) Atari 2600 version of Pacman, flickered the sprites anyway - just slower - to get more sprites on screen. Why didn't they use this technique?
