So, summer house has finally been purchased, coming on the first week in Feb so am on the hunt for stuff now, but got a question re: Smart Plugs

Does it only use the wifi connection only to be turned on or off, or does it need to maintain a constant connection for it to be in use?

Its my brain going into overdrive probably

little bit of googling told me what i needed to know, no they dont need constant connection, but if they are 2.4ghz other stuff could interfere with them and you wont be able to connect to them potentially, but things like schedules and stuff will still work

And you don't want WIFi in your summer house?

Depends on the plug... Some will keep their schedule but they lose track of time of power is interrupted so will be off if they cannot correct themselves when the power goes back on.
They won't be very smart because you won't be able to communicate with them.

im only going to be using them for things like a heater and a fan, the power will be constant barring an absolute disaster i just want to be able to warm up my arcade room or cool it down 10 minutes before i get there

I've got a Melrose smart bar socket in my office. 6 sockets and 4 usb sockets. I use it to turn individual bits of kit on & off via Alexa when I want them. Works great

Alexa...boooooo

only kidding, i'll have a fan and a heater in my outdoor building, just want to warm/cool the place up before i get in there, seems like a great solution, its an extremely lazy solution to a problem that doesnt really exist though, i dont live on a farm or owt

Personally, I couldn't go back to pre remote heat control days. I was in Bermuda last week and it was great making sure my wife and daughter didn't have the radiators set too high😁

Couldn't live without my car heating up before I get in it either.

This from a bloke who grew up in a house without central heating and had to warm up Infront of a fan heater at the bottom of an electric oven before school 🤣
