Hi all, I only recently got an outrun midi cab and came across the smartypi and decided to have a go at building one myself as a little project.
Really lovely board to work on, however now that it’s all put together I’m having a bit of an issue. Once it’s turned on, the Smartypi logo screen appears after a few seconds and then it doesn’t do anything else other than show the Smartypi logo.
Per the guidance I checked the voltage before I connected the Smartypi, it was at 5.5v so brought it down to 5.09.
Once hooked up to the smartypi I also used the test points on the board and got the same reading.
I’ve checked wiring and everything is seated well and I also did another check on all of the parts and connections and made sure there were no bridges etc. oh and just to mention as part of the build I did flash the microcontroller with the latest update version from the Smartypi website download.
I’ve read that this kind of issue is likely from a problem with the microcontroller SD card file, which has the setup.txt file on it. I have tried with an edited version and just used the unedited one downloaded and not seen a difference.
I can connect to the raspberry Pi with my laptop using putty and winscp and I did wonder if it was because I needed to put the game files on the micro sd card but when navigating through the folders I saw there was one there that had rom files already in the data folder.
I’ve read through all the online guides but not seen anything that I think I’ve missed.
Has anyone else built one and if so any thoughts at all or pointers?
Thanks
John
