[ukvac] SOOPER jammamegeo gun

Hi ,

This may be a moronic question but , is it at all possible to create a
tidy 4 controller (6 buttons each excluding start buttons) , jamma , neogeo
and mame compatible supergun with coin slot ? It would be quite a challenge
.
well ok i admit it , im waiting for someone to make one of these so I can
buy it , im so lazy:)Failing that I need some s0oper info on how this would
be possible .

And no replies stating , why not buy a seperate jamma + neogeo supergun and
a mame cab! not everyone has the room for these things ,,,

- cheers

Hi,
Erm, ok here goes...
A super gun IS NeoGeo compatible as Neo slots use
Jamma connectors (including the 4th button
option) so just building a normal super gun is
good enough to run Neo arcade hardware. You would
need a Neo 1-6 slot board to plug your MVS boards
into though.
And a MAME compatible supergun? No such thing.
You're either running a PC with MAME, or you're
running proper hardware, there's no real hybrid
of the two. I'm sure the only way to make
anything approaching what you want would be to
just plug both a super gun and the relevant
MamePC gubbins into one big brick that outputs
through the same cable, but I wouldn't have
thought that's really advisable, probably because
of voltage silliness that might occur.

Think that helps, I'm sure someone will correct
me if I'm wrong.

Justin.

PS what do you mean "noone has the room for these
things"? I have a PC with TV output card and a
Super gun that has a footprint of less than 1
foot squared, it's not as if super guns are the
size of a Cray-1...

Sounds... 'fun', wasn't aware it was possible,
well *you* make it for him then ;)
Sounds just far too expensive to be worthwhile
tbh when a video card with TV out is so much
cheaper.

Yeah .... you make a jamma harness for a pc ..... which involves either
something like an ipac or a keyboard controller and some external circuitry
that sorts out the multiplexed switching :)

Re: [ukvac] SOOPER jammamegeo gun
All you need is Love, well in this case a J-Pac and a videocard that can
support the lower dot clock speeds to drive a 15.75khz signal, but believe
me TV out is crap compared to true RGB scart, I don't touch that composite
crap, just in the same way I'd never touch a PAL console.

So it can easily be done, as for price it isn't really much to be honest, a
J-PAC and Videocard that supports the lower freq equals the same price as a
videocard with TV out (New off course), so there you have it..

Well I was not aware of that... so it is
possible, hmmmm iiiinterestiiing... I thought it
would have been more expensive than you make out.
I agree with you on video standards btw. I'm not
getting a GameCube until it can be RGB modded.

Ideally you buy a cheap videocard from Ebay that is supported by either
MonARC Plus (TSR that works in DOS which sends out the correct frequency to
drive anysort of Monitor, CGA, EGA, VGA, Fixed Freq and so on), and then
J-PAC from the good man Andy Warne, total price would be around £50 - £60..
but you get the Video support, and you also get 28 unique inputs which can
be programmed on the J-PAC (Which is the same spec as I-PAC), plus you can
also whip it into your Jamma cab as well.. ideal for flexiablity IMO.
