Strictly Limited Games - VAT question

Hi, they are based in Germany.

I bought some games and when paying it said 20% VAT was included in the price already.

The first lot of games came no problem.

The second lot of games, I've been sent an invoice from Parcelforce demanding import VAT and their £12 handling charge.

My understanding is that I've paid the VAT already and they collect on behalf of HRMC.

Have I been charged VAT twice?

When I buy from play-asia, I pay the VAT upfront and that's it. I don't get charged twice.

Just wondering if somebody in the know can clarify please.

Was the order over £135? They don't need to collect VAT if it is. I'd check your invoice though and make sure you've not paid it twice.

Hi Phil. The order was over £300. The invoice from Strictly says I paid VAT.

Parcelforce have invoiced me £78.39

When I buy from play-asia, under £135 they charge VAT, over and they don't and I pay Parcelforce directly.

For Strictly it said 20% VAT included and so I feel that I've been charged twice.

Yeah you definitely need to get that back then! My first port of call would be Parcelforce to make sure they've not been handed it, although I suspect they haven't had it.phillv852022-07-12 14:24:38

Thanks. I rang Parcelforce and they say the VAT paid has not been forwarded to HMRC.

I've refused the parcel as I'm not paying VAT twice. I've emailed Strictly and raised claim on PayPal. I've paid £55.31 in VAT to Strictly and now Parcelforce want £78.39

This double dipping is too much..

Just been charged £86 Customs for Egret Mini 2 from Strictly, I have emailed them but had no reply as yet.

I would advise not buying anything from Strictly Limited Games

Mailed Strictly Limited again demanding they refund me the charges through my PP, there is no mention of charges on their website, they need to sort this out

I paid Parcelforce the customs/VAT charge and raised a claim with PayPal. SLG never responded to any of my emails or the PayPal claim and so I ended up being refunded!neo-geo-mvs2022-09-07 17:24:01

Looks like quite a few UK buyers have been stung for Customs charges...

Got the unit now, the spinner is a game changer, Arkanoid, Cameltry and Syvalion are ace. Upgraded to latest Firmware, which apparently improves Spinner performance, included book is good as well, it's a good product, pricey but nice to have.
