Hi all,

Thinking I may put a big summer house or shed at the bottom of the garden so I can get all my cabs and pins in one place.

Anyone got any suggestions on where to go? What is best? Any things I need to know?

Any help much appreciated :)

Thanks

- Ben

lots of people have done this on the pinball info forum, just search for pinshacks, the main thing seems to be good insulation, and depending on crime in your area security

it's the worst estate here! However... It would be nearly impossible to get the stuff out and tbh I think it'd be safe but would obviously be insured.
Will have a nosey over there :)
Still after more info and help obviously :)

Cheers

It entirely depends on budget; I had a building designed and built as my office here, insulated, wired, heated, blah blah, and it's bloody excellent. Drop me a PM if you would like the details of the outfit who built it!

Keep an eye on Facebook marketplace, I've seen a few very large summerhouses put up for very cheap or even free this year if you're willing to dismantle and take them away If you're paying next to nothing for one you can afford to spend the budget where it's important on lots of good quality insulation and weatherproofing/heating which is where it really starts to add up.

Also have a quick check on your local council's website just to make sure you're not breaking any regs, regarding the size of your planned build. If you keep you building under 2.4m tall and less than 30 square metres you probably won't need planning permission but you may also have to keep a percentage of your garden as undevloped land. best to check so if any jealous neighbours complain you're covered.

Just thinking about planning if your building is made of combustable material it will need to be at least 1m from any boundry, something to bear in mind when you're planning your build.

This SITE will help you determine if planning permission is needed but also check with your local council as there could be local varianciesTWB2018-12-11 12:50:54

don't scrimp on the base ??? all the builders i talked to advised me to get a good base
smiley20.gif
it will have to support a fair bit of weight and if not done correctly your cab/shed will split

Thanks guys :)
I've quickly checked regs and I think I'll be fine as it's not massive the space is around 14ft square...
The base will definitely be good and tbh slightly raised to stop water getting anywhere near.

Just need to find somewhere with a decent one to buy and budget wise... Its the usual... As little as possible to get the job done properly as I'm northern I'm thinking about £20 and a pie ??
