[ukvac] Tech: Bank RAM Error
Evening all,
I've been in the possession of an original Taito New Zealand Story board for
a couple of months now and everything works fine apart from one small thing.
Basically, when I power up the board it comes up with a message reading
`Bank RAM Error` which it displays for a couple of seconds, before
re-setting the board and having another go at booting-up. The message
appears again and the whole cycle repeats for about 20 seconds or so and
then the usual copyright info appears before the game then starts. Once the
game is up and running its operation is flawless, it's just a tad annoying
having the wait at the beginning.
One other thing to note, is that if the board is happily running and I turn
the power off and then switch back on, the board jumps straight into the
copyright splash screen and the `Bank RAM Error` message is nowhere to be
seen. It seems that once the board has warmed-up, the problem vanishes.
The board is the single-layered version of New Zealand Story featuring the
same levels as featured in the Ocean/Choice home versions of the game. (The
other version is dual layered, featuring a different level pattern).
Well, if anyone can shine some light on this little niggle, it would really
be appreciated. Please bear in mind that I have pretty much sod all
electrical knowledge (I'm hoping to improve that at the coming meet), so
treat me gently.
