TECH: Crazy Kong

I was hoping some could help me identify the origins of a Crazy Kong board I have. The pinouts do not match any of the crazy kong ones listed on spies and the colours and sounds don't match any of the ones emulated in Mame. The board has a small note on it saying 'converted from pacman to Crazy Kong' - but the board doesn't look anything like my pacman board. The conversion was quite major with extra chips soldered onto top top of others etc. Below are links to a few pictures

Anyone got any ideas? Does anyone want a dump of the ROMS?

Steve

No problem this is a conversion of a two part galaxian bootleg
boardset wich is very common although I have not seen it befor
with a Kong conversion.

This set of boards have been subjected to all sorts of conversion from amidar
through pacman(pucman) to obscure games like the old BBC game
DANGER UXB but called, I beleive Checkman on the galaxian

I had thought at one time of cataloging all the game conversions on this
boardset
but just could not find the time to research it.

I would say that there are over 50 differennt conversions around.

I hope this helps

On the same Subject.....

Is there any sites that have pic of the different conversions on similar
boards..... as I have several of these boards all of which don't work
:-(.... but dunno really where to start... I even have a full-length board
which has a board that plugs in , in 7 different places as in the graphics
sckts (2) the program code(2) and then three other location small ttl size
all 16 pin size... this is called a "Gamepack Interface"... and have two
cartridges for it Hog? and Amidar... but have tried this on several
different boards... and does not appear to work... but don't know if the
extra wires are in the right place........

Anybody either come across this system...... or any site with any info....

Regards

Darren

i believe i may have a manual for it someplace, it even lists the games
which are available with it, including crappy screenshots.. if i'm not
mistaken, yes it is a hybrid galaxian/moon cresta type of board..

you're gonna have to remind me at a later date about it as its buried in a
big pile of manuals i've only browsed thru.. :) now in storage :)

Thanks to everone who replied. I've been after a Moon Cresta board for a
while now and would love to convert the Crazy Kong board (Moon Cresta is a
much better game....) Would it just be a case of reversing all the mods and
putting some Moon Cresta roms in? Or is it more complex than that?

Cheers,
Steve
