[ukvac] TECH: Star Wars
I'm fixing up a Star Wars PCB and am wondering if any of you have had this problem.
The sound works and passes all the diagnostics but the speech is too fast (i.e. Darth sounds like Pinky of Pinky and Perky fame). The sound processor and VIA are also running *very* hot.
My guess is that one of the clock dividers on the main board is not dividing at all and sending too fast a clock to the sound board but if this was the case I would expect the sound processor not to run at all - I do not know many processors that can run at twice the rated speed!
I will check the clock tonight but if anyone knows the clock is the problem or suspects something else, please let me know.
