Okay, you're gonna get flooded with these - but DON'T CONNECT IT STRAIGHT
UP.

I will fit, but is VERY different, so if you do, well have yet another very
dead Mr Do! board on our hands.

If you're confident yourself goto
http://www.spies.com/arcade/boardPinouts/Mr.Do!-Series.txt for the pin outs,
or ask and someone will surely do it for you - for a small fee of course ;o)

For instance, if you're stuck, mail me off the list ;o)

first off, Mr Do! is vertical, so you will have to rotate your monitor
somehow.

secondly, you will need an additional sound amp, as Universal games from
that era all need seperate sound amplifiers, jamma boards all have their own
as part of the standard, so you'll have to hook one in their yourself.

thirdly, Mr Do is vertical in the flipped orientation to most other games,
so if you rotate the monitor, you will be able to play mr do, but to play
most other vertical games, you will have to then rotate the monitor 180
degrees to play them.

unless you hook up a switch to flip the yoke coils.

you might find your monitor already has this (it is uncommon, but i've seen
quite a few with them).

other jamma games will flip 180 to play in the 'Mr Do' orientation by the
use of a dipswitch, but again, not all of them will :) so it will be a pain.

enjoy!

Don't want to start up the whole Dooey thread again, BUT i have to ask this
as its been buggin me for some time ;o)

My Mr Do! board was (and still is, but it's dead) a Taito licensed board and
has an onboard amp. I thought this was just the Taito board, thought "lucky
git" and thought no more of it.

When i was waiting for the Mr Do vs Unicorn board, i ordered up the parts
for a little amp, but when i got the board - guess what, it had one onboard.
Now i'm really puzzled!

It didn't have a pot, so on plugging it in i nearly blem the neighbours
windows through ;o) I put a 1kB pot in and all is fine.

What's going on? The board numbers are the same as the schematics, yet they
clearly have amps. Anyone shed any light??

Guddler.

Re: [ukvac] Tech time!
All the non-Universal (i.e. bootlegs/licensed) boards I've ever seen
have had on board amps. Only original Universal ones have not had amps
on board.

Okay, confusion comes from my end (no big surprise!), i saw/read on a site
somewhere that the "Mr Do vs Unicorns" was the "Asian" release of Mr Do's
castle. As it has the same board number i figured it was a genuine board.

With the lack of copyright laws in a lot of Asia, i should have put two and
two together to realise that this is clearly a bootleg board then, which
explains the presence of the amp.

I have to say, the more i learn about my Mr Do board the more pissed off at
the amount i paid for it i get - still that's another storey that's not for
this list ;o)

That was properly came from my "read me" file when i dumped the roms for
mame, it is what i was told by the previous owner (another dedicated
collector).

Nope my board has the on board amp and it is genuine. The board
is silk screened with universal logo and has the to universal custom chips
on (the ones with sort of playstation shapes on instead of numbers)

It apears that they did the later games with both amp and amp "free"
versions.

I agree, I've got 4 genuine universal boards, 3 of them with sound
amps on though Mr Do isn't one; some have a pot to control the volume
some don't.
Some also have different revision letters and are slightly different
in design to the commonly available schematics which made it
interesting fixing them when the components either didn't exist or
the referance numbers where different.
Just for completeness my other 3 bootleg DO's all had amps and pots.
