Hi All,

Just about to dip my toe into the vpn ocean and would like a bit of help. Devices that would be using it would be ios, android and windows.

I know there is gonna be pros and cons with all of them and not using one before any advice would be great

Hi there,

I've been using Nord for a few years now. You can usually get pretty good rates if you subscribe for 2 or 3 years. I use it on my desktop, laptop and a few Android devices.

VPNs are good for privacy, security, and also for accessing media with regional restrictions. Just choose one of your VPN's servers in a country whose WebTV you want to watch, and bingo! Bob's your Dad's brother. Just remember to change it back afterwards.

The only issue I've come up against is that some websites, especially those for online banking, really don't like VPNs, and will occasionally refuse to cooperate. But there's usually a button to disable the VPN for a few minutes to let you carry out transactions etc., where knowing your location is important...

Really depends what you want to use it for?

I also use Nord at the moment and I have it set up on my router so that I can have everything going though it if I want, this helps with devices that cannot have a client installed like my LG Smart TV.

works fine with phones, and android devices, but it didn't work at all in China!

even using their guides for obfuscated servers and open vpn setup, I ended up setting up my own VPN to my home router an that worked!

it can be a bit hit an miss when it comes to using to watch Netflix

Speeds can be very good, I usually get over 500 Mbps from Nord choosing servers in the Netherlands.
