What's up with AdBlock?

I've been using this in Chrome for years, and it's been great, but now I'm getting ads showing on sites like YouTube and ebay. I finally got round to making a donation for AdBlock a few weeks ago, and now it's fooked - typical!

I assume this is down to sites getting more crafty to circumvent ad blockers, or is AdBlock just a bit crap, now?

most compatible with Adblock unlike Chrome...

So AdBlock's still working fine in FF? There are various settings I might try poking around with but PITA considering it just worked before, out of the box.

I've noticed even on firefox you get a white screen with skip ad on youtube now, where as before you wouldn't even know there was an advert.

Yeah, I forgot YouTube even had ads until AdBlock stopped working.

Adblock sold out a long time ago, you want Ublock Origin (when using a decent browser like Firefox), secondly Google/Chrome disabled access to a certain feature ad-blockers used, so they all became worse.

Alternatively get a Rasp-pi and install Pi-hole, full network blocking then!

Google is an Advertising megacorp so I try to avoid using their browser, and I have been a solid user of Firefox since it first came out :)

I also used adblock until recently and have just moved onto Ublock Origin, which is doing a fine job with those youtube adds. however I white list the actual channels I like to watch and are worth watching so as not to cut their revenues.

The world's eaten itself when advertisers are buying ad blockers, to get money from advertisers to unblock otherwise blocked ads, hasn't it?

I use Chrome with Ublock, Ublock Origin, Adblock, Adblock Plus.

Can't remember seeing an ad on youtube.

In the immortal words of Sheriff JW Pepper... "If one half of the family don't get him, the other half will!"

And...

You Tube Non Stop, so youtube doesn't keep stopping the music to ask you if you want to carry on listening!

Thanks for the heads up on ublock. Seems to be working great and even blocking stuff adblock was missing (or being paid to miss

). Since ublock is open source, hopefully there will be no chance of payola from advertisers like adblock
