Wpc cpu board

Can I interchange a wpc security board between fish tales and high speed 2 getaway?
I know I need to change the rom but is the security chip the same?
The getaway one is faulty I think so want to swop it with my getaway.

Any ideas if this is possible?

I think both these are pre security chip games so changing the ROM over is all you should need.

What’s the big square socketed chip on the pcb? Just looked it up and it’s the asic chip. What does that do?

I'm pretty sure that it's the game software on the asic chip.

The ASIC is like a big custom, so doing stuff like replacing a whole bunch of TTL ICs. Or like a non programmable FPGA.

Anyway they’re not game specific amongst WPC pins of the Same era. Game specific code lives on the eprom
