Wtd: Advice re adding a spinner to MAME Cab

You might have seen from my other post that I've been trying to play Mad Planets on my MAME cab but come to the conclusion that I really need a spinner. Game is hard enough without the prioper controls!!

So just wanted to confirm that I would need to get an I-pac (I have a j-pac already installed) in order to get MAME to work with a spinner? Or can I just get a spinner, plug it into the USB slot and then presume in the specific game, I would assign left and right on the spinner as inputs on the game specific controls menu in MAME?

Also any recommendations please for a decent but not expensive spinner?

USB will work fine and iso g mame set up for L & r

I used the Ultimarc Spintrak on my cabs (with the heavy flyweight) with a direct USB connector. It works really well and feels like a normal arcade spinner to me. N.B you will need to have a trigger joystick to play Mad Planets. Using a normal joystick plus spinner makes pressing a normal fire button impossible!

Thanks Martin. With the iso g set up, do you mean uploading a new mame load as have everything else already set up and don't want to go through that all again. Can I not just assign the controls within MAME to the spinner?

Thanks Dan. I did see the Ulitmarc spinners but unless they are supplied in the UK, did seem expesnive esp when you add shipping and taxes. Anywhere in UK do them or something similar?

Edit - didn;t see that Ultimarc are UK - came up with $ initially! Will get one of those

I found that it will work with continuous fire, so plan was to lock the fire button down so I had the two hands needed for joystick and spinner and will make it less tiring by not having to keep pressing the fir button.
