Never used dishwasher for cabling or boards , Although some do. If a board is realy bad I wash it in the sink as it works well. As a rule you need to make sure everything is totally dry, Mianly the connectors. I stick board in our airing cupboard (I have a hot cylinder) for a week to be sure.

I use a can of compressed air (air duster) or an air compressor to get water out of connectors once I've cleaned them.
Then leave them for a while in the airing cupboard or conservatory to dry completely.
Some connectors are silly expensive these days (as is wire) so getting the grime off old ones is always a good option!
(I use the sink and a sponge rather than a dishwasher though)

I used to work for a place that made PCBs on a small scale. They had a dishwasher specifically to wash PCBs, but it was just water, no agent involved.
