Has anyone rgb modded these small Sony

I would say no as that looks like the output from the connections board that goes to the monitor chassis, i.e. if there was RGB connections on the back they would route to that connection to feed into the monitor chassis.

Do you have a manual for the monitor to check specs, it could be you can feed a 15KHz RGB signal in via the VGA socket if its something that would be accepted by the monitor, I would be careful when checking though as VGA has a different voltage range and impedence compared to an arcade RGB connection, but is similar to SCART specs.

It don’t have vga

Rgb is mentioned on pcb

Looks like sync on green

Your original post says it has an SVGA input which is a VGA connector.

You would need remove that connections PCB from the case and see if there is anything on there to fit an RGB connection to and then work out if there is anywhere on the chassis to acutally wire an rgb connection to, and also if there is any selection button to choose RGB.

It could be that connection board was designed as a generic board for several different monitors and has the RGB labels on there for that.

Hi cliff thanks for your input …

What sort of voltage should I see ?

And are we talking about testing the the
Rgb jumper for voltage or the inputs ?
Thanks

I'm not sure that is a jumper, I think they have shifted the screen printed text over to keep it out the way of some solder pads.

The reason I ask about the voltage level, I'm wondering if it has to be taken high or low to select between RGB and line. I'd be tempted to wire RGB as you suggested, to a PCB I didn't care too much about, and experimenting from there.

I would say you are wasting your time looking in that area, that connection is the feed from the composite and svideo connections on the back of the case to the main chassis.

Sony are well known to have used the same pcb across models and simply left the rgb area unpopulated and blanked out on the rear case.
I have two similar that I need to do at some point.
While I found a photo of the mod someone had done in the past, I've never found a guide aw such to adding RGB in.

are you referring to the part I call the rgb jumper ?
