Tapio NFC reader for mister or pi

What do people think about having a tapio on a cab ?

Having your fav games in a physical credit card format ..
I have an animal kieser and it has a marquee that holds credit card size cards / playing card same as nfc for the animal game I could store my games here in the marquee .


I’m converting it to jamma ..
Never had a clue what to do with the marquee except make even small mini marquees than the neo geo mm’s

But could have NFC that look like mm’s

i have one for my MiSTer, although it is using the open source tapto

works a charm but is a bit gimmicky, don't think i've ever used it to actually launch a game i want to play, just to test its working, still great though if you don't like menus

Yeh I think it has a place
I do dislike menus too..

Although you can set to auto launch..

Hmmm it is a gimmick shame as pretty cool at same time

i made some covers and printed them on holographic paper, took the gimmick to a whole new level, they do look lovely though

Is mister NFC be set to override game in play to next game you swipe ?

I think that is its advantage ..
Super quick game change.

No menu trauling

i dont sell them, i just made the graphics and printed them on the paper, them stuck them to the cards, i can go over the process with you by all means and share any files i have

the biggest problem for me was that the paper it was printed on would scratch, so that is why they are in plastic sleeves, i think it was only because it is rainbow paper though

I thought about alternative ways I could use or loose the marquee that came with the cab ..
And I think this is the best way I can use it .
If I manage to get round to this soon .
Would love the files info on the paper etc..

On MiSTer you can use your phone and just type the name of the game you want to play. For example type in Robocop and see all the different versions you have for consoles, arcade, computer etc. you just select the one you want and the game instantly appears on your cab.

I don’t like menus either so like the simplicity of the MiSTer interface.

give me a shout via PM when you are ready, the cards were extremely cheap from memory and work great, and the paper wasnt expensive either, think in total for about 50 cards and about 10 sheets of paper it was about 20 quid from memory

That’s cool..
I really like the way they look as they Match the foil cards that were originally with this game .. but having the games I like to play in their on NFC is just a cool idea .. I can make the marque push release so I can just pop it open to get to a card .. swipe to change game.
The menu isn’t that bad ..
But it means I don’t have to change the marquee or I would just make a normal marquee .. but I like the neo geo mini marquees this is like a cool kinda upgrade on the marquee ..
the cab is a freakoid any how I’m just having fun with it . Converting it
Trying to replicate in a way that capcom cutes plexiglass curved smoked screen.
2 player 6 button on such a tiny panel was a real fun challenge too ..
So this will just add the the diversness
