Hi all

I watched a video on turning a Normal Shure SM58 mic into a more expensive Mic with the aid of 3d printed parts. However online quotes are around £200 for the parts. Which is about the same price as the microphone its trying to mimic.

Is there anywhere in the Uk that prints parts cheaper?

I also have a AES/MVS convertor that has an optional printable 3d case and was quoted 100 to print that.

Maybe it does cost that much. Any thoughts or reccomendation's welcome

Seems a bit much. I downloaded the files from the link in the video above.

Looks to be <£3 in filament and ~8 hrs. Not that I would print them all together but it al least gives an idea of time/cost.

Happy to print them for you if you like and I can take a look at your AES/MVS convertor shell too. Send me a PM if you like ☺️

Yes massive mark up. I do get that sometimes prints take ages and mess last minute. But where people share the designs and you see ebay people doing that at a massive overhead its crazy.

There is a massive markup in uk on new house build prices.
Perhaps Franco can print me a full blown mansion out of plastic rather than brick where they add on a third to the price.

Veering off topic (sorry @Monkeykong1) but if you've not seen the 3d printed house stuff worth a Google 👍

I've always thought the 'pro printed' stuff is overpriced, but I've not spent on any to see their results. Not saying the Shure stuff would cost anywhere near that but energy is a big factor with prints that people (including me!) tend to forget about.
