I just recently picked up a couple of things, one arrived in a week, one in 3 weeks, and got an email yesterday saying my item had arrived in the country, 2 months after i ordered it...

So its legit, but dont buy anything your in a rush for!

Remember it's like Amazon/ebay on steroids when it comes to fakes. Alot of IC's are fake and pcbs often contain dodgy MKT/electrolytic capacitors.

Apart from that, you can usually get things a bit cheaper compared to ebay as you cut out the re-seller.

I have ordered many things now from AliExpress. Almost always a lot cheaper than eBay.

The AliExpress Standard shipping usually takes 2 weeks to arrive. If you use the Cainiao Super Economy Global shipping, it takes around 3-6 weeks to arrive. Recently, AliExpress have upgraded for free any order I’ve purchased via Cainiao Super Economy to their Standard shipping service, which is great.

There’s plenty of fakes on there, however I’ve found AliExpress’ Buyer Guarantee to be excellent. If you get nowhere with contacting the seller (which is not uncommon), just file a dispute with AliExpress. Every dispute I’ve had was resolved very quick and in my favour, however refunds to take around 14 days to be processed back to my payment card.

The Buyer Gaurantee doesn't help you with fake items though. The problem with fakes is that people don't realise they're fake.

99% of audio pcbs (for example) that you order from there have fake output inductors. Arcade SMPS have fake output electrolytic caps.

I recently ordered a Class D kit, and every component > 10p was fake.

Loads of op-amps are fake.

It's a minefield.

Sure, if you're ordering something simple then go for it, but don't order anything that has any electronic worth.
