You might have an Amiga to DB9 connector, an Amiga to Scart cable and a female Scart to DB9 connector or maybe an Amiga to Composite cable. It looks as if there are Sync and Blue issues if it's a fully wired RGB cable.

Is the Philips monitor working with other devices? Can you connect the Amiga to a TV to test if it's the monitor, the cable or the Amiga?

Yeah I have an Amiga to DB9 cable. I don't think it's the monitor because:

1) I've connected the Amiga to a TV and signal I get is terrible, but I can see the same pink on the display. But I think the modulator is in a bad way, although that of course plugs into the RBG port like the DB9 cable.

2) The "clicking" noise when the floppy drive checks for a disk (once a second) makes the display interference worse, it literally jumps in time with it. You can (sort of) see it here.

I think Mutant Caterpillar is a good shout.

There is a video on YouTube of an Amiga 1200 user checking and replacing resistors R232A, R232B and R232C feeding the CXA 1145 chip. I don't know if it's the same on the A500.

The display interference might be caused by missing shielding or the power supply not delivering enough power. Can you test it with another power supply?

The problem started with it fully encased, shielding and all. Unless the shielding can fail somehow?

I've not really got the setup/skills to start de-soldering components, I've spoken to Ian at Mutant Caterpillar and will be sending it off to him next week, as soon as I get some antistatic bags to put the motherboard in.
