Wife dropped her iPhone 5s into the toilet the day before she was leaving for Geneva. I've dismantled the mobile, dropped the motherboard into 99% isopropyl for a half hour. Then dried it out along with the other components.

Put it back together a day after leaving it in a very warm place.

In short, does not work. I can see the backlight come on when I try to charge it, and a thin horizontal white stripe at the very top of the screen, stays on for about 4 seconds then goes off, and repeats this cycle. Not sure if motherboard or screen is stuffed. Maybe both.

Sheesh.

All I want to do is to recover the data really, any advice?

Also, found a very small metallic part stuck to the rear of the ear speaker, not sure where it is supposed to go;

Any idea's?

My wife did exactly the same thing with exactly the same phone 2 weeks ago as it happens. I also attempted to repair it, dried it, replaced battery and other bits tried transplanting things between different phones and got as far as it constantly resetting and failing to revert to factory settings before eventually trying the throw-it-at-the-wall-as-hard-as-you-can fix.

Fortunately all her info up to a week before the incident was saved in the cloud so a new phone and was all sorted.
