Long story my brothers friend died and his mum has gave my brother his record lp collection to sell. its mainly grunge i think. hes doing a list and may well just get dealers round. is anybody here able to look over list in casr thete are any
thing we should try and sell seperatley. my brother is making nothing out of this. and had not got the time to sell and value it all one by one. but be good to know if anything we should be aware of.

Sorry to hear of the circumstances surrounding the records.
Here is my advice as been in and around records / Music for 20 years .
In my experience record dealers / shops would typically pay about 30% of the value of the record. Quickest route to sale but with a big hit financially . They may also cherry pick and leave you with some that are not desirable.
Vinyl prices are high currently.
If you want to spend a bit of time checking the condition of each one and having a look on Discogs then that would give you an idea of price. It can determine a market value price for your determined condition of vinyl and sleeve . You can set to sell UK only or worldwide.
I have used Discogs for the last 15 years or so as I have been selling off my personal collection. Hope this help.
Not looking to sell other peoples records as have my work cut out already with what I have but happy to offer any further advice if you need.

You need to check matrix against discogs..

I am good friends with the author of the uk record price guide. ( funnily enough )

not that that helps ..
It just depends if you want to sell all quick or make the most as poss

wow thanks to both of you that really helps ill pass the info over. my brothet will be good on nirvana stuff, as that is how he met him but the othet info is really going to help. in this curcumstance its not about the pricr its about the hassle ! Circumstances are shit and brothet is sucking it up but it wad his friend, its the mum that is kinds hassling him to sell it.

So Even good records is all about the matrix & condition.

Got to be a first press usually .
Forien limited releases = scarcity

You need to hold the record into a light until you can read the matrix numbers around the inner circular band that surrounds the central label sticker.

I preferd Jesus jones before nirvana
But as soon never mind dropped I was hooked.
