===========

This is a hopefully easy to use Windows GUI Executable that has all my arcade rom patches built in. Most are Highscore Save mods but there are also several protection fixes & connversions as well.

I had been holding off releasing it as I have been trying to buy a Major Title 1 & 2 for a reasonable price, releasing this program will make conversions easier and probably means I will never get the chance smiley19.gif

Many thanks to Hammy from ArcadeProjects forum for his extensive testing of M82/M92 conversions and also to Virtvic on UKVac.

BTW the R-Type I & II conversions to M82, I have done do not require any hardware mods at all!

Holy crap that's a lot of patches
smiley32.gif
Does the de-protected cps1 stuff allow you to use B21 c-boards?

If you take requests a decrypted version of wonder boy for system 1 boards (pitfall 2) would be nice.
smiley17.gif
The prototype version works apparently but is far from complete.

wowza, that's awesome that the rtype conversions no longer need board modifications!! I never liked the idea of damaging my major title 2 pcb. Amazing stuff.

Yes you can use the patched CPS1 roms with any standard C board (B01-B21, no battery). They auto detect the C board version at power up.

It would be possible, but atm the moment I am deep into another project, perhaps when I am finished.....

If I ever find the two MT's I thought I had, you can have one ...
That would be really kind, perhaps its in the back of the Atari System 1 cab I thought you had unearthed

It really is an amazing piece of work, I've already patched several of my boards over the last year +, nice the fact the most (nearly always all) versions of the game have been done, rather than just one version. and the CPS1 auto detect is a very SMART feature, fantastic (so it will be good bye Street Fighter II's and hello, Strider & Mega Twins, Varth Etc)

I remember a time when it was difficult to find another high score patch to apply, now I can't keep up.... I've still got at least 8 to do. Plus the CPS1 stuff. (not that I am complaining) Looking forward to doing 1942 (as another fav)

Keep up the good work I still have about 100 games that need High score mods :)

May you receive many PCB's or Pennies or both

I was pulling apart a megadrive cart today and noticed it uses a coin cell and small 8-pin chip (marked 1026B) to backup the onboard 6264 ram. couldn't find a data sheet for it so traced it and found its connected as follows -

1 - gnd

2 - n/c

3 - 6264 pin 26 (/CE2)

4 - battery +ve

5 - n/c

6 - 6264 pin 28 (VCC)

7 - n/c

8 - +5v

the 6264 on the mdcart gets its power at all times from the 1026B - pin 28 of the 6264 is not connected to the main 5v supply.

I presume the 1026B detects a voltage drop at pin 8 and then powers ittself and the ram until power is restored.

The battery was still holding charge - on a Fifa 95 cart over 20 years old.

So I wondered if I could lift pin 28 of the ram on boards that use a 6264 and hook it up to the 1026B, then wire the 1026B and battery to a scrap of vero and mount it somewhere close by.

So I tried it with a major title i'd converyted to x-multiply, and it worked :D

carts like fifa 95 and plenty other EA sports stuff use this chip and can be picked up for next to nothing, certainly cheaper than nvrams - and means you're not risking a knockoff chip or something past its shelf life. If you mount the coin cell (cr2032) in a holder you should be able to swap it out while the board is powered.
