[ukvac] Arcade security measures.
Morning all,

I've had an idea for my machine, if I drill two holes in the back of the
base below the door and thread a scooter chain through and round the
radiator pipe that SHOULD keep it safe. Then I thought about one of those
car alarms that go on the steering wheel and give out 130DBs when the wheel
is moved.........??

Has anyone else secured their machine(s) down?? If so have you any other
ideas?

It's just mine will be in my conservatory at the back of the house. I'm
having UV resistant film fitted to the windows to prevent fading and heat
build up. It WAS supposed to go upstairs but 1/4 of a ton won't go up a set
of stairs with a 180o turn in :(

Cheers!

Dan

why bother? it weighs that much, any thieving scrote will just go for your tv, video and PC.

you'd be better off chaining them to the radiator.. just leave the cash door unlocked, to stop them forcing it!

Hi,

I don't know any Burgular that would bother stealing an arcade machine!!
otherwise they would nick them from Arcades.

They are far to heavy and far to niche market for Mr Burgular, who would
rather steal your DVDs, money, jewellery and other smaller items they can
fit in a swag bag.

Regards

Andrew

My main arcade security consists of the door frames in the house being not
quite wide enough to fit arcade machines through them :)

Would take a week to steal mine! hehe

Ummm, let me get this straight - you think the thing is gonna get nicked?
It's not a car mate :) They won't pick the locks and drive off in it haha. I
have never heard of someone being burgled and getting their arcade machine
nicked, I mean you can't really climb over the garden wall with it can you?
"Oi Derek, hellllp me get this ere arcade machine over this wall, the
coppers will be ere soon!!"

I'm sure leaving it as it is will be perfectly safe.

Oh, and thanks for making my day with the comment about the car alarm, i'm
still laughing :)

RE: [ukvac] Arcade security measures.
Yeah, I wouldn't bother.

I've always said that if any burgler decided to come in and nick one of my
pins then I'd want to be there to have a damn good laugh all the way as they
try to get it through the door (and then punch their soddin lights out,
obviously when I've stopped laughing).

It's easy for us as we've no doubt all moved plenty in and out of our
houses, but for someone who's never lifted one before who suddenly picks it
up as Andrew says they'll soon favour DVDs instead :O)

I especially note that you've already said you didn't want to lift the thing
upstairs yourself!

BTW - What machine is it that's weighing in at 1/4 tonne? If it's a twin
sitdown racer or a cockpit or something then I think you'll especially be
secure enough!

Guddler.

There is a video clip on the internet somewhere of a cockpit game that
someone turned into a car, fitting a small engine and cut out a hole where
the monitor used to be as a window.

Going to search now .... its a good laugh :)

Re: [ukvac] Arcade security measures.
I have to agree with the sentiment that very few thieves are going to bother
lifting out a 300KG, obsolete, unreliable coffin sized piece of kit when
they can just steal your cash/jewellery/PC/home entertainment system/car
keys/etc. Personally I REALLY hate moving machines these days- though I'm
probably emotionally scarred from work....

Anyway the _top_ solution is to do as most arcades and buy a big f*king
pikey dog!

Nobody messes with that.
