Some weeks ago I walked around a part of Oslo which I don't really visit that much anymore. It is sort of a hipster haven, with tattooed bearded lumberjacks and cool chicks a'plenty. You know, the kind of neighbourhood where you (or at least I do) feel old. Looking through the window of a clothes store I suddenly saw a cab. It was a generic one with a 60-in-1 running, but still. An arcade machine in a hipster shop?!
And today something in a similar vein happened. I'm selling my flat, and I've just had a photographer in to tell me how I should style the place for the pictures. She went absolutely ballistic when she saw the Donkey Kong in my livingroom, saying it's the coolest thing ever and now she wants it to play a cruicial part in the photoshoot!!!
So I'm asking you... are we hip? Has time gone full cycle, making us arcade fans cool? I've been seeing myself as a geek with a compulsive collector disorder, but now I'm not so sure anymore...
