Greetings from New York!  I run a fan website dedicated to Atari Asteroids -- the 1979 vector version -- and related topics.  It started out as a list places where you could play the arcade machine.  I've been able to find several databases of U.S. arcades and bars with classic games, but so far I haven't been able to find anything outside the States.  I just found UKVAC, and it looks great!

If anyone knows of a UK arcade locations list, or has individual cabinet sightings, I'd love to hear from you.

The site: http://www.atariasteroids.net

Facebook page:here

Please visit, and I hope you enjoy.

Thanks!

Tim (25-Cent)

Nice Site ! :)

Should have a map of earth with red dots where all the asteroids machines are.

Please add one for me in Perth Western Australia

Another list is here down under
http://www.aussiearcade.com.au/

Once you join you have free range.

Search for machine owners list, it might be 15 hits down, don't ask me why :)

Hi Tim,

Welcome to ukvac :) You probably hit a bit of a gold mine in your quest as most of ukvac's members are into the older games, quite often Atari Vector :)

I'm a Star Wars man myself (got a very nice condition cockpit if you ever start logging them

) but DanP here has one, as does Equites and Purity iirc.

It might be an idea to copy your first posting into a new thread in Arcade as more people read that section and you should get plenty of owner responses. Good luck in your quest and welcome aboard!

Cheers

Hi Tim

I have 2 Atari Asteroids, one is in absolute mint condition having been privately owned since new, second one has a monitor fault I think. Need to dig it out really as its not even been plugged in for about 8 years, very much a Vector fan, never forget the first time I saw Asteroids in an arcade at Pleasureland Southport, they had 3 of them in a row and I was gobsmacked by how good it was and how diifferent to everything else I had seen. Will have a look at your site later.

Ian.

Hi and Welcome (and you Ian, too

)

I've got an Asty Deluxe at my place (Minehead, West Somerset) and an Asty Cabaret, currently on holiday at Retrokade which is near Chichester. Both in fantastic working condition.

Give the guy a chance - he did say he's in New York. That means he's only just getting up about now - and that's if he's an early riser. And it's Sunday too!
