Jeff,
I'm surprised you didn't build it in a Centuri cab like Pheonix/Pleides etc - you could have had the sides painted up then and bought a repro panel off Archer
When I purchased the board-set, I was told that it was a project board, and it turned out to need quite a lot of work before I would be able to apply power to the set. I was hoping that all my work would pay off but you never know.
That being the case, I did not want to start a "major" project as I am hoping that one day a dedicated cab will come my way. As I have a very nice Space Duel game, (spare), I pulled the boardset and wiring harness and used it as a testing / playing station with the intention of one day transplanting everything into the dedicated.
I did speak with Arch who went out of his way to help me with sizing the repro CP and it just would not work in the SD cab without major mods. Also as I do not have an actual flight stick from Aztarac, I would have had to modify the CP to accept my fabricated replacement and that would have ruined the CP for future use if I did come across the actual stick.
Taking all these factors into consideration, the best and fastest was to use what I had and to get the game up and running as soon as possible. I am still working on the replacement stick and should have that done in a month or two. I still have to dial in the display and find out once and for all if I will be able to use an Amp stock or need to utilize an adapter of sorts to modify the output of the PCB for the display.
I enjoy these challenges as I don't do crossword puzzles............
