Best games console for cabinet

I am currently working on a Silent Scope cabinet with a working CRT screen, that I may have to scrap due to a faulty game board that is difficult to repair.

One option is to pop a games console in with a light gun. But...

PSX, Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox classic etc.

-Which classic games console has the best light gun? A rifle with recoil would be best, if available.

-Which classic console has RGB out as an option - and would the RGB out from a console be good enough to power an RGB CRT monitor, or do I need to make a modification?

-I think the Dreamcast is the only games console that powers straight up after a mains power interrupt, so I don't have to go inside every time to turn the console on. Or is there another console that does this? (eg. can a hacked Xbox classic be set to power on and off from the mains, like a PC?)

In your opinion, which would be the best one to go for?

Thanks - Keith

Recoil rifle doesn’t exist for consoles. Silent scope is one of the few where is near on impossible to get the equivalent experience without the arcade machine.

The rifle they do make works using an infrared sensor to see when the persons face is near the scope, it then simulates the zoom the scope gives by zooming in on screen. It’s quite a nice bit of thinking to get a cheap solution. But the infrared sensor is notoriously fussy and often won’t register or false register. Also, whilst the solution is well thought out, it doesn’t look that good.

If you go the PS2 route (which imo is the best lightgun home console experience) you can buy a sniper rifle lightgun for it.

But for the absolute best experience I would go the PC route but not sure of any rifle lightguns for it so you may have to DIY one.

Thanks for the help.

I was wondering about how to get a light gun working with MAME as the plan would be to the existing CRT monitor, which hopefully won't project upside down when I hook up. The silent scope cabinet is a mirrored reflection isn't it, so that could be a problem?

The PS2 was originally sold for use on a CRT screen, so not a problem (apart from maybe being mirrored or upside down). From memory, does the PS2 boot up from a wall switch or do I have to always press the console button?
