What were manufacturers thinking when they decided to not put a safety frame around a ridiculously delicate glass tube suspended under a 50lb screen?

I'm almost certain BH was the first video game I ever played, me and my bro pumped money into it (2p I think!) all through our holiday!
Other games I remember from that holiday were Space War, Breakout, Sprint , Circus, Sea Wolf 2 and Super Bug (which was our other favourite!). Great memories!

Crack on dude, good luck!

Thanks dude. There's a Superbug sat in front of BH in the garage too if you fancy having a holiday flashback one day

Boot Hill and Super Bug!

Seriously cool old games.

I'm sure the boot hills I used to play in the very early eighties were 5p a go?

Can anyone confirm that 5p mechs were on vids - I know they were on fruities etc.

ps - get a mate round to hold the tube while you unscrew the bolts - as I reckon they probably won't undo easily

I think you're right - I remember thinking Circus was crap, and the price (2p a go) reflecting this!

It was around 1979/1980.

I think it is stencilled directly onto the cab which'll make restoring it difficult - no easy vinyl stickers here

Vic - mine is at 10p a play, so inflation of that scale suggests it must be a Thatcher era one

Hmmm. So maybe it's a Europe vs US thing (that's the US flyer) or MINE has been tinkered with perhaps. Either way, screw that flyer, mine looks better

Edit: TNTAmusements had/has one with the same artwork as mine. So, either there was a change in artwork, during the machines run or (possibly) the flyer/linked machine above were prototypes?

Midway cabinets were not made in europe in the 70's. There are a few instances of cabinets changing artwork half-way or part-way into their run for marketing or production purposes...

All i can see at the moment is that someone screened the artwork in different colours..

What does your cabinet artwork look like then, totally different? or is it the same artwork just screened with different colour inks?

Looking at it, the black cowboys would totally not show up in dark locations (arcades), so maybe they switched inks to make the thing stand out more...

my guys have red waistcoats and pale yellow skin. The guys on the flyer have that in reverse (red skin and pale yelloe waistcoats).

my local arcade used to have one, didn't seem to be played much though BITD,but then it was stuck in between battlezone and pheonix which was probably why.
