Hey everyone! :)

This October, my colleagues and I are heading to South Africa to give our time and energy to one of South Africa's poorest communities. We will be renovating a local school and orphanage, teaching local children, and generally undertaking any task that will help improve the lives of the wonderful people there. This will be the first visit the charity has made to South Africa since 2019 when a group of volunteers from Foundation built a new Church, two new medical centres, repainted the Khaya Centre, created two creche rooms at a Meals on Wheels service and provided the first indoor water facility on site. :)

In order to do this I would really appreciate your help. To get there I need to raise a minimum of £1000 and once there the company I work for (Revolution Beauty) will add a further £1500 to cover the expenses and materials we need to get there and carry out this vital work. The Footprints Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation so every £1 really does make a difference. (y)

Any donation you can make, large or small, will be really appreciated and in return I promise to go all in and give every ounce of my energy to ensure we make a real difference.

You can donate via my Just Giving page here.

Whether you can spare a few bob or not, please do take a look at the Footprint Foundation's homepage and you can see some of the amazing work they have done over the years and thanks for taking the time to read this. I'll use this thread when we go out in October to show you all what we manage to achieve.

Cheers,

Marcus.

Time to sell off your collection mate ;)
I wish I had a collection these days :D

A couple of people have kindly supported me already, massive thanks! (y)

I've just been told we are allowed to take an extra baggage case for toys and toiletries etc to hand out so that's a nice little extra thing we can do while we are out there.

I'm from South Africa, just be very careful as crime is at an all time high. The police are corrupt and incompetent and you have power black outs for up to 10 hours a day. Where are you going actually?

I know a few guys from SA & they all say the same & tell me how lucky I am to be from a country where I can safely walk home from the pub at night or just in general.

Which just goes to show what a massive thing you're doing mate. Going above and beyond doesn't even cover it. I donated a little a while back, I hope you reach your target. Stay safe 😘

I believe the main town is called Meyerton which is South of Johannesburg though I am not 100% sure if that's where the team is would be based or the town they do the projects in. Will update on this.

Right, super sorry I have been slow to update here, I've had a load of things going on personally, my sincere apologies.

Firstly a massive thank you to those who were kind enough to sponsor me and the project, it is really appreciated.

The project itself is still very much going ahead and the team's flights were all booked last week, however for personal reasons I can no longer personally go. This wasn't an easy decision and I am a bit gutted but I've got to prioritise elsewhere.

I am super conscious that those of you who were kind enough to sponsor were probably sponsoring me as much if not more so than the project itself and I don't feel comfortable with anyone parting with their money in that respect now I am personally not going. I've contacted a couple of you on WhatsApp already who I already have details for, for the remainder please send me a DM with your bank details and I will refund you.

The money donated will still be going to the project as I will be refunding you personally so your kindness will still very much have a positive impact.

I believe the following are those that may be from here who I have yet to speak to: Vamino & TLC

Thanks and sorry to let you down, it wasn't an easy decision. I am however planning to update this thread with progress once the team are out there so please do watch this space! You can of course still sponsor the project too if you wish, it is still very much happening! (y)

Thanks,

Marcus
