Just out of curiousity, whats the general concensus about them on here?

It's all i have to be honest and i like them, maybe cause i'm lazy and you can sit at them or maybe cause they're plastic/metal and generally look shiny. Dont get me wrong i aint a woody hater like some folk can be, at the end of the day they're all cabs and play the same games.

Some cab be kinda steep but then so can some woodys, i know there's a rarity factor involved in alot of the woody cabs though before it gets pointed out

You'll have to get the controller surgically removed lol. I'm just jealous though, I miss them days where I could spend a few hours getting ripped into some gameage

I've owned two now and loved them both. The only reason I no longer have them is simply that I have no need of a generic / jamma cab at all. If I did then I'd have kept the E2 as it was really good but in the end it was a lot of cab to have sat here doing nothing!

I'm not that fussed but I think they are too short, too expensive and remind me of the sort of thing they have (had?) at the Trocadero.

I suppose at the end of the day you like whatever was around when you first started playing those kind of games so In my case I'm a fan of the Goliath. I also like that cab because (at standard resolution) a 19" CRT is about as big as you can go before things start to look really horrible, you can rotate the monitor, it has yoke flip switches and you can also get the monitor, gameboard, control panel and PSU in and out in minutes from the front so you rarely have to move the thing. I assuem the candy cabs have some of these features too but it's so long since I've worked on one i can't remember.

I find it strange sitting down playing Street Fighter etc. The last time i was at the Troc it seemed weird playing on their cabs sitting down.

The screens were fine on the two I owned. And to be honest, I preferred them over wooden jamma cabs any day. Apart from for one. The small Subelectro / Unigame cabs, cabaret size with 14" monitors are the best I've ever owned but after that, these candies were next best.

I owned an Astro City (26" Screen I think?) which is what the ones above are - in fact one of them will probably be the one AM bought off me!. The other was a 29" screen'd Egret 2. Both surprisingly good for standard res, old games. And especially on the E2, the fact it had built in support for stereo, and a rotating monitor was a major bonus.
