Had a play on a couple over the weekend at Replay and while it is nice to sit down and play, they feel a little too flimsy for me. Maybe I just prefer the 400lbs beast that are "traditional" cabs.

And as to seated gaming - thats what I use a bar stool for !

I suppose when in their original setting, i.e Japan's shops/arcades and there are rows of them, they kind of look like sweets ?

All I could think of

I owned an Astro City (26" Screen I think?) which is what the ones above are - in fact one of them will probably be the one AM bought off me!.

Personally speaking I found the 29" monitors a little big for some of the late 70's/early 80's games but the 25" Nanao MS8-29SU in the Aero City is probably the best monitor I've ever seen for 15kHz games.

What I want to know is, WTF are they called Candy Cabs? They don't have any candy in them do they?

IIRC SNK used the term "Candy" to describe some of their cabinet models and the term has been hijacked by westerners to refer generically to Japanese sit down cabs.

HTH

Cheers,

Ralph.

I've got an Egret II, really like it - good 'all rounder' cab for playing any jamma stuff. Great picture and looks fine in the house with it's wife friendly shades of white and pink

Still got plenty of wood in the soon-to-be games room though!
