Cheap Android tablet recommendations

To save a bit on the leccy bill (which has gone mental lately, for some reason), I'm thinking of getting a tablet instead of having my PC on basically all day, every day, when all I really do is check my email and do a bit of browsing, occasionally.

Think it'll need to be Android as the gmail app and Chrome are a must for me. Anyone got any recommendations?

you can run gmail and chrome on iPads
That’s what I’m doing.

iPads don't tend to be cheap. Also, I'm not a fan of Apple stuff.
