Coin door logo

I am trying to bring my Zaccaria coin door logo back to life, but can't make it shine very well. It was quite corroded and green and now at least it's silver. I've tried brasso but doesn't seem to make a difference. Any ideas? Also, is there anything I can do to repair the areas where the metal layers have come away over time?

I think these are plated and over time the top layer separates from the base metal so you can only clean it up so much. The only way to even it out would be to paint the whole piece, perhaps with a chrome spray paint or something, that might give a pretty close finish.

Thanks. Would I need to spray an undercoat on to the current logo piece? Or could I clean up the area and spray directly on to it?

I'm not sure to be honest. I would have thought the paint will take to the damaged areas ok though without primer.
Of course your other option is to just leave it as it is now.

I'm getting mine re-chromed. I'll ask for a quote and let you know

I hadn't even thought about that, considering the effort I'm going to, making the cab look like it's original condition....this sounds like a plan.

Keep me in the loop!

Thanks,

Rory.

I finally took it in to be re-chromed but as it's plastic, they couldn't do it. I went in hard with plan B...chrome spray paint, it looks proper awesome! I got an acrylic chrome spray paint from Halfords for 7.99. Thanks for the suggestion Muddy

The only problem now is, I'm looking for other things to spray chrome
