As you can see on the picture, this K7000 flyback has a couple of thin(ish) cracks through the casing where it's labelled 'focus' and 'screen' I've not tried to power on the monitor yet so is it worth putting some epoxy over these cracks or is that a waste of time? Is it a case of it just needs replacing and there is no fix worth bothering with, even temporary?

Cracks across the front of those original K7000 flybacks is pretty common and doesn't usually cause a problem, at least not at first. You can put some epoxy across, it won't hurt to anyway. What you'll probably find is that eventually you'll lose focus and/or screen control and/or they'll make the focus/screen brightness fluctuate whilst they're not being touched. At that point you'll need a replacement anyhow.

Hey tb thanks for the reply, that's great, good to know it should be ok to turn it on and see if it fires up or if any other issues!
I'll probably chuck some epoxy over the cracks as like you say it won't hurt to

Yeah it's days are no doubt numbered, good news is though at the minute it's working fine and managed to dial in a nice picture.

It's currently getting little to no use, just for testing pcb's here and there as it's at my mates warehouse currently while I don't have the room for it at home. Soon as I bring it home for proper use, I'll probably look at taking it out to do the cap kit and a new flyback for it. the screen looks really nice, zero burn. don't think it's ever had much use either.
