Who else has listened to this? I'm a bit torn between saying I'm certain this is even better than Discovery, or saying that I suspect by the end of the weekend it will be :)

There isn't a duff track on there IMO but clear stand-outs are:

Giorgio by Moroder - I really like the spoken intro - it's Moroder FFS :) - and when it kicks in at 1:50 it's awesome! Can't wait to hear how they remix this into a single.

Instant Crush - just beautiful.

Touch - weird, and all the better for it.

Get lucky - obvious I suppose. I think this will become the HBFS of the electrodisco Daft Punk era.

Contact - best track of the album. Absolutely. Reminds me of about 5 really good tunes, boiled up and distilled into awesomesauce.

Can't wait to get hold of the high bitrate original on Monday and really thrash it.

Decent album, 4 or 5 standouts and the rest are all listenable,

Clever formula for 2013 How can anyone not like disco funk with Nile rodgers in the seat! its like MJ in his prime.

They are certainly not scared of the sync rights dollar either, must have heard it on just about every tv program there is! from antiques roadshow to the one show.

I know it's only my personal preference but I was slightly disappointed as I was expecting a more authentic disco/soul style album.

Just can't get away with this. Have it in the car, Listened to it four times and it's just not doing it for me. I really like a couple of tracks but that's it.

Nope, sorry....

I bought this last month and have only listened to it once, was pretty disappointed with it, I think I skipped through a lot of the tracks after a minute or so on each of them.

From an engineering point of view, it's a seriously f**king needed breath of fresh air! They've treated everything simplistically and sympathetically, given everything room to breathe, left the mid range thick and not compressed the sh*t out of everything. The top end is soft as opposed to over cooked, the bass is thick and warm without being the focal point and pumping against the kick drum. The low-mids are left thick and there's a lot of dryness in the mix too, very light use of reverbs and delays.

It's a very bold statement to make an album like this in this day and age as its goes against everything modern pop music production stands for. It sounds fresh and modern, but my god it sounds old, absolutely reeking of the mid-late 1970s. Basically it's a testament to less is more and it takes a high profile, intelligent duo like Daft Punk to pull something like this off. (But let's not forget they worked alongside Nile Rodgers for the whole album

I guarantee you this will have been the simplest album DP have ever made, yet it's probably the most intelligent and accessible too. I'd even go as far as to say it's one of the best produced pop albums we've seen in ten, possibly twenty years.

Yes, there's music I prefer and listen to over this of course. But like I said, from an engineering point of view, when I put it on, my ears smile

it certainly wasn't what I expected from Daft Punk

That's the other key thing here. Between this and the orchestration on the Tron Legacy soundtrack, DP are truly showing themselves to be serious musicians of high standing. Not afraid to put themselves in new situations, try new things and experiment outside of their comfort zone. As they get older, they're really turning into genuine artists, but remaining successful with it. Hats off to them.

DP have always done things different though, even since the mid 90's... Christ that makes me feel old

I remember getting ripped with my mates listening to the first album and being blown away

I just couldn't get into it. After TRON it was just too much of a different direction for me personally.

I was expecting something like TRON but more.......disco? You can't knock Nile Rodgers but this is not what I was expecting.

Damn.
