Purchased a original donkey kong pcb (tkg4) some several months ago from a member from ukvac,he said it used to work but with sound issues. He removed all the eproms, proms and the z80cpu to get another donkey kong pcb to work, here is how the pcbs looked out of the box.dk2.jpgdk1.jpg The pcbs looked in nice condition with no damage and the cpu has been populated with components for positive video and a sound amp fitted, noticed on the cpu pcb the dac and opamp chips have been replaced with new sockets.ok next was to program 12 eproms and 3 colour proms also put in a z80a cpu + rainbow power cable.powered on using my jamma adapter and got no picture and no sound?
looked at the dipswitch settings on the cpu and they are all in the off position.dk14.jpg rgb is set to inverted video, sound is set to amp(external),m is flip screen.Looks as though this donkeykong pcb was fiited to the original cabinet sanyo monitor with its amp.I switched all switches to there on position so that rgb is positive and sound(s) is for pcb amp.powered on ...................................................dk4.jpgdk5.jpg cool,we have a picture :) .The game cycled through its demo but with corrupted sprite gfx,i coined up and played the game and noticed all digital sounds were present except no jump sound. The vertical and horizontal pots on the video pcb were very sketchy and the slightest touch i got this..............................................dk6.jpg Decided now to give these pcbs a good service, replaced all eprom sockets, electrolytic capacitors and new pots.
To be continued.............................................................................................

Good work! Great to see you're getting somewhere with this. I paid way more than I should have for it but was desperate at the time. Glad I could get another board working with the chips and that you are on the way to resurrecting this too. Will be following!

thanks for the post, i didnt know you could un-invert the video with dipswitches!
Only the tkg-4 board set allows this option but you need to populate the cpu pcb video section with the correct type of transistors and correct resistor values then add the rgb pots and 10 way dip switch.
