Thanks guys, on a mission with this for a minute!

Quick update -

Took the front panel off this morning, not done this before but not too too big a deal and will certainly make life easier to spray the insides, front and CP

Looks a little weird though.....

Hey Ol, certainly more in depth on this DK compared to others

Next step is to steam clean the base of the cab as it's not great with my awesome new steamer i'll then leave the cab to dry and take a trip to the paint shop tomorrow as I hope to be passing.

This is coming along so well!

How easily did the front panel come off? Was it just pinned on or had they screwed it on from behind those little blocks etc?

Glued, screwed AND stapled James

It did come off ok, not too bad but obviously time needs to be taken as splitting the timber would be pretty easy. The screws/staples are indeed through the wooden blocks.

Got the cab into the workshop now, off the floor and to a decent height to work on.

The next step is to prep the cab. Will need to fill and repair where necessary and sand the blue Formica to key it to accept the primer.

Nice work PAC-MAN. I'm assuming you're spraying it? If so, what type of paint are you using, car paint or water/oil based thinned down for the gun?

Hey Andy,

I'm taking the rattle can route now. The other two DK's were Cellulose, but I think Cellulose has since been banned? I'm speaking to the paint shop later and will know more.

Cheers,

Al

Went to the paint shop, a different place to where I used to go. Saw an old work mate up there which was a surprise so a cash job followed nicely

Anyhow, the paint is Cellulose, apparently you aren't supposed to spray cars with it anymore unless the car is at least 25 years old!? WTF?!

Did you get the mix codes? Just so happens I need it soon.

No paint codes - cash job, no labels

thats a big area to rattlecan, doing the whole thing?

These cans are pretty rapid, not quite like the Halfords type. The nozzles are pretty cool. The jet is wide and they empty pretty quick. I've done quite a few like this.....quick & clean.

Hey Dave,

It was ok, it was held in pretty well with glue, screws & staples but it came away ok. I'll definitely do it on the next one as it will save time in the long run and it will be a better job overall. Just need to take some time as the front panel will split pretty easily.

Always happy to help you Alex if I can

If you decide to spray your Popeye, you can always bring it over and do it at mine. There could be a few laughs involved though and possibly some cock ups
