Trying to buy from a seller in the states, but eBay suddenly doesn't recognise my delivery address.

I want buy and seller wants to sell to me, but eBay says no!

Anyone had this issue and knows how to resolve it? Just when you think eBay can't get any worse, it gets worse.

That is pretty usual - most US sellers don't realise there is a world they can ship to outside the USA. When I used to buy from the US I created a US eBay account with a fictitious US address and then asked sellers to ship to my UK address 'where I was currently situated'.

Nah, I've been talking to the seller trying to get it sorted. He wants to sell to me in the UK.

As an experiment, I've tried going to checkout with other items from overseas, and there's no problem. I'm pretty sure now that the problem is with his listing.

Could be the seller doesn't use the global shipping program? I've not directly imported from the US since 2017.
Whenever I buy from the States now I use a proxy which may add domestic shipping costs but as long it's valued under £135 avoids the compulsory 20% ebay add on import tax. Some proxies have discount codes for international shipping also which is the clawback on the domestic shipping.
The proxy I've been using also is a proxy in Japan and I'm about to dump them as their customer service is crap. Whenever everything goes right it's fine but now something has got lost they are fobbing me off. It's the usual tactic of delaying doing anything and hoping the customer goes away or the paypal 180 day protection runs out. I've been a pretty good customer of theirs for a long time but they don't seem to give a shit.

I do use MyUS but over time I can only 50% reconmend them. They have an ebay buyer page but hmm confusing..

I have it set to single package now but i was paying a tenner a month for consolidation which is useful for many parts from different places but the headache is getting MyUS paperwork, your involces from eBay and others need to be present and that doesn't happen. MyUS can reject them, you can somehow get them to buy it but not done that yet. The delivery to the UK is pretty quick as u can pay for customs up front.

Your address isn’t too long is it
When viewed from USA ?
Maybe when great Britain or united kingdom is added which wouldn’t be there if posting in uk
It can put the number of letters allowed over and a bit just needs deleted

Just been having conversations with ebay today why they remove a listing of mine when 100's of other identical listings allowed, they really wind me up and just spin ya lies about it being picked up by AI but doesn't pick up others with exact same title and description or any other lies they can tell you

I would get him to check if other countries are excluded in his listing, he may not be aware they are or get him to select global shipping

I don't think this is the problem as it hasn't been an issue before. Pretty sure it's a problem at the seller's end, so have asked him to check global shipping etc.

You need to have a US shipping address added in your eBay account and set it to “Primary“ if the seller hasn’t set their auction/sale up for Global Shipping. If your delivery address is set to a UK address, a lot of the time eBay blocks you from making a bid or using Buy It Now.

Turns out it was some kind of weird glitch. The seller has sold loads and ships around the world regularly, so has global shipping programme set up, etc.

I noticed that when trying to view the 500+ items he has for sale, I only get shown 25 of them. By going to checkout with one of these items, suddenly my address is fine. I asked him to edit one of the listings to the value of the item I want, then bought it. What a palaver!

There is no need to pay the monthly subscription for consolidation anymore unless you are shipping 6 or more packages a month. MyUS have recently changed it so that the free “single“ package members can now pay as you go and get consolidation for an extra $1.99 per package and they now hold the packages for up to 14 days for free. You have to change the shipping setting in your account to “hold”, otherwise they ship each package out automatically. Their T&C’s state the charge as $2.99 per additional package, but I have only ever been charged $1.99 for each additional parcel.

You do not need the invoices/receipts to be inside the box of your eBay purchases. MyUS accept a screenshot taken of the invoice from your eBay account.

I’ve used MyUS for years and so far I have never had a problem with them.

It's funny how people's experience with the same company can differ so much. Same with couriers. All comes down to luck, I guess. 🙂
