Its getting to a point where its not worth the hassle, idiot buyers that send bizzare questions and statements, opening cases and say they didnt order a shower head and its not good to them as they bought toothbrush head, they only had to open the box and find toothbrush item inside. moron sellers that just cancel orders after days because yhey didnt get price they wanted, why do ebay allow it? Then best bit because they refund you ya cant leave negative feedback to let others know they are timewasters, post, say they posted items to wrong address so dont get it and charity shops that 50% of time send wrong items

Now this change from paypal to there managed payments and they mess up the layout so i dont know where i am with it now and dont wanna bother really

To continue selling you are forced into it. Left it to the last day.

Tbh it's been going ok. Payments are quick and in the bank in 2 days. No probs so far. I send everything tracked to cover myself as far as possible

I’ve still not opted in to the managed payments and have missed their deadline, however they have since sent me another selling promotion; sell 3 things and pay no fees. I just can’t be bothered with eBay, I think it’s too much hassle. I’ve not sold on there for years so I’m not missing anything anyway

The problem with the Global Shipping Program is the high fees a buyer has to pay in addition to the item price and import tax. I’m sure it’s putting off a lot of sales.

I haven't signed up to it yet either. I'm going to wait and see what everyone thinks about the new system.

I may decide to not sell at all on there anymore. But to be honest I probably only sold maybe 5 thing a year.

Looks like ebay are now forcing everyone into VAT on overseas sales and also enlisting you onto the Global Shipping Program and trying to force you to do all your postage purchasing via them too.

From 1 July, and in line with new legislation, eBay will collect VAT on all goods which are sold through eBay and shipped to buyers in the European Union (EU) with a consignment value up to EUR150. eBay will collect VAT on all sales to private individuals, regardless of seller status. eBay will declare the VAT collected under our Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) number.

As EU customs need to identify if VAT has already been paid for EU imports, eBay’s IOSS number needs to be shared electronically with carriers. In cases where eBay has collected VAT and the goods are shipped from the UK, you are responsible for sharing eBay’s IOSS number with your carrier. Failure to share eBay’s IOSS will lead to buyers paying VAT again on delivery. Note that the Post Office systems do not accept a manually provided IOSS number.

If you continue sending parcels through the Post Office without pre-purchasing labels through Click & Drop or the other alternatives set out below, your buyers may have to pay VAT again on delivery.

To simplify the process, we will enrol you into the Global Shipping Programme (GSP) by 1 July. You will receive an email once we have successfully opted you in with further details and a link to opt-out should you wish to do so. GSP will ensure that the IOSS is correctly transmitted and that all customs charges/processes/international delivery is taken care of. All you have to do after a sale transaction is post your parcel to the UK Shipping Centre. Learn more here.

If you wish to continue to post packages to Europe yourself using the Royal Mail or an express carrier service, the alternative postage methods available to you, where you can electronically declare eBay IOSS to your carrier are:

  • eBay labels Packlink. Read more here.

  • Royal Mail Click & Drop account linked to eBay account. Labels can be dropped off at the Post Office once printed. Read more here.

  • Buy postage online with a carrier (Hermes/Parcel2Go/DPD/UPS) and electronically declare eBay’s IOSS number.

Yeah this is a real f**ker!!!! There is a way round it if you can communicate OK with your EU buyer!!

You have to get them to add a UK delivery address to their Ebay addresses, I normally give them my work address. Then get them to purchase and select the address you have given them on checkout as the delivery address but remember to add the shipping charge cost to the item! Then get them to send their real delivery address, and update listing with tracking number.

Done this a few times and no problem!

Dont forget now you are loosing out on collection only items

Before lots of sellers would insist cash on collection to save on the 2.9% fee from paypal, now thats added to your ebay fee it dont matter as your paying it anyway cash or not so they win again

Sure that will mean a lot more people will just cancel transaction after its been collected as thats so easy to do now wether buyer wants to or notBods2021-06-16 07:25:22

I tended to add a OneDrive link to my messages since eBay didn't block them (like an email or phone number), it was to a picture of my email addy so I could chat properly with the interested party, I will have to in the end accept their policy, but the first thing my listing will say is 'WILL NOT ACCEPT EBAY PAYMENTS' :D

I don't see this as a big deal.

Yeah I was happy with paypal, but for the service I get i have no issues with ebay fees, or them managing payments.

Life's too short.

Goddarn just been caught out by my own post further up, made a best off on a book from a US seller and settled on $41, normally above the postage cost it gives a likely customs fee, figured as there was nothing mentioned this seller was not part of global shipping, went to pay and item is suddenly $49.20 and postage which was $21 is now $25.20, so they have slapped 20% on both costs, this is going to be the most expensive book I've ever bought now at £54.10. So annoying, if the bloody customs fee box had been clearly visible from the start I would have thought twice about buying the item.
