Cheers for all the kind messages guys!
First login after spending the last few very hot and sunny days on the beach - all perfect timing!

Development is progressing on the Spectrum NEXT yep!
I'm only doing pixel graphics and game design stuff (no coding) in the evenings so I don't even have a development board just at the moment (waiting for my boxed NEXT to arrive like everyone else!)
My only exposure to the NEXT itself is when I've been able to see Jim Bagley at various retro events, and when using the emulators - luckilly I can do a lot already in that way.. a lot of the graphics are already in place, and starting to lay out the proper levels in the tilemap editor.

nice 1 the quality of the games the spectrum next can do looks great

i dont suppose you know, is there a music tracker for the spectrum next? (eg. a tracker which runs on windows and then it saves out the music file in the format which the spectrum next can use?) i'll have a google around about it later

I'm not a musician but.. I think most are using existing AY tracker stuff that can be used for making traditional 128K speccy tunes, given the NEXT supports 3x channel AY in the same way.

thanks for that just had a look around some more and it says the spectrum next uses 3 of those soundchips, so it looks like it has 9 sound channels available, nice

edit: and also 3 noise channels
