Flying Shark PCB Cleaning

Well, as you all know, I picked up Flying Shark with a graphic issue from the raid. I fixed the graphic issue by separating a couple of legs which had been bent and touching on the back of the board.

Anyway, I've decided to try and clean it. I have access to a dealership workshop and compressed air.

Here is the state of the board.

I used an electrical evaporating cleaning spay called Brakelec III and a brush to clean the board.

And this is the end result.

I could probably repeat the process another couple of times to get it cleaner.

Just need to plug it in and make sure it still works

I use an anti static brush (you can get them from eBay) and baby wipes

It's a good idea to sometimes remove the roms for a good clean too.

I'm gutted I didn't spend another £20 on another 4 faulty/dead boards now

My never finished repair tutorial has an opening statement about your eyes being your best fault finding tool. I must have fixed over 30% of faulty boards I got from ops by seperating the shorted legs of chips and caps.

Ops have usefull habit of stacking them and then when they put them back in a cab somethings shorted and they aren't worth their time to fix so they get chucked on the pile again. So when you tell them you are only paying £1 per board because they don't work they don't argue and you spend a few minutes finding the shorts and its another one on the working pile
