Are the highly erratic speed issues on this forum all down to whichever service is being used to host the forum?

I love this place but the often extremely slow speed is something of a PITA.

Assuming it's the host that's being used, would it cost much more to use a much faster host and, if so, how much more?

Thanks - apologies for the moan.

I've noticed it too usually in the evenings, probably when the site as the most traffic.

Also noticed , Up and down. Not slower when you click ' Back ' to previous page. Strange indeed.

<font style=": rgb255, 255, 255;">Dave.

The previous page will already be stored in the browsers cache so using back button should be instant

Maybe someone has silently stuck a proxy in the middle to snaffle any general/encrypted/private data to assist in the uncoming forum update.

Either that or the mother of all backups is all running so the data can be punted to a revitalised platform.

Not here Oll, no - still some very long pauses maybe 1/3rd of the time?

I've not been on for so long that I didn't know if it was just how things were these days. Then I saw this.

Afraid it's definitely still sluggish at times - perhaps not quite as bad as it was a few hours ago but maybe that's due to the time of day (or rather, night)?

Where do you think that the bottleneck is? CPU? RAM? Hard drive (or are you using an SSD)?

What are the current specs of the host PC ?
