Vics C64 question inspired wee to start writing up my experiences with old computers;

Amiga 500

ADF Sender - Serial Cable.

http://adfsender.stoeggl.com/

If you want the short cut or are missing a workbench disk a greek guy now does the kit on ebay;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AMIGA-PC-ADF-FILE-TRANSFER-KIT-EASIEST-FASTEST-CHEAPEST-WAY-TO-DO-IT-/121406417379

Amiga 600/1200

(WIP TBC.) - PCMCIA CF adaptor, IDE, CFIDE

Atari 800

SIO2SD - SD card

http://www.lotharek.pl/product.php?pid=49

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sio2sd-for-ATARI-8bit-XL-XE-/181491963697

- cheap and works well when setup correctly

BBC Micro/Master

MMC - SD Card

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Acorn-BBC-Micro-B-Master-MMC-solid-state-disk-drive-/221530015661

- cheap and easy, once installed on a BBC micro you can shift break to a pre-compiled SD image of pretty much every game made for the beeb, as hosted on www.stairwaytohell.com

- some games don't work directly and have to be transferred to disk.

- no support website, ebay-only seller.

XFER - Serial Cable

http://www.g7jjf.com/bbc.htm

- simple cheap and pretty reliable, a lot better since disk transfer was added.

Omniflop - Floppy disk

http://www.shlock.co.uk/Utils/OmniFlop/OmniFlop.htm#OmniFlop_Overview

- can be hit or miss depending on format but has worked well, especially for the master I have that has a 3.5" floppy drive (a standard PC floppy can be used with a master once the drive selelction jumper is changed to disk 0).

Dragon 32

TBC.

The problem with the Amiga ADF transfer is it requires serial. A lot of PCs, laptops don't have this port anymore. As for the floppy emu, you need the one with the screen so you can see which ADF is inserted in the drive.

yeha ive got an old pc with serial parallel floppy and IDE controllers.

mind you im pretty sure you can get a usb>serial dongle to add a serial port to new machines.

ofc its much better to have an amiga 600/1200 then its childs play.

had anyone used one of those ultra cheap USB floppy emulators? no screen but a numerical display
