my opinion is >>>> IF YOU ARE IN A FLOOD ZONE RISK AREA DONT PUT YOUR ARCADE MACHINES IN THE CELLAR
..... you should perhaps think of a move to higher ground BUT NOT a forested area that has a fire risk! ............
the world blames us in the UK and other developed nations because we do often shoulder the guilt a bit but other countries do nothing and even contribute to the effests with forest clearances and intense carbon high output industry , its progression if they though about it 200 years ago we would all still ride horses and have no electronic or labour saving devices and be firing arrows at our neighbours instead of armed drones.. study the atlantic tidal drifts and then watch hundreds of barges dump new york's domestic industrial and buiding waste in the atlantic day after day as they have hardly any landfil zones ......... then wonder why packaging marked usa washes up in wales cornwall and lancashire coast line in this narrowing bay of water at the edge of the atlantic ocean
as 'gunblade' points out its population is the root of many of the planets failings to cope on balance
many old vehicle go to central africa long after their UK and USA / europe life and run on for years and years.. our old mercedes (y.reg)6 ton van went to Namibia via an exporter in north wales, ex, Norfolk Line owned it till we took it on at two years old and 180000 milles already still under manufacturers warranty in 2003 and it had eventually done about 450000 miles + my partner drove it to Milan(italy) and France a couple of times with snooker tables to deliver/install no worry on vehicle pollution out there in Namibia? our next van down in size is 1997 LDV still starts first turn so does the big tail lift stuff and its not even done 100000 miles yet in 25 years , smokes a bit when started cold but flies the MOT on clean emissions . yet rust will possibly see it needing replacement soon...... its the salty north wales sea air does them no good (not climate change).
when theres a world disaster the TV expects us to send donations to the aid charities yet relatives of ours in Austarlia dont get the same begging on their TV when we have a flood or major incident here in the UK so i expect central africa and south america and the middle east never even hear of our hardships but think we are the source of 'manner from heaven'.. theres a Bob Geldof living in every town in the uk (not) and he has food and jobs and spare empty housing (or benefits for us all when we travel there by any means we can pay out for as we migrate the poorer parts of the world)
our house is mainly concrete the only wood is the doors and stairs .. so hopefully low risk of fire even tho we still heat by coal and no restriction in this area. we live about 50 yards from a river (river Weaver which floods in the local town of Northwich to a over depth of up to 10-12 feet as the river Dane joins it there in the town centre) but to get up the height of our location all of Warrington and Frodsham and the Mersey basin at sea level would need to rise by about 100 ft that 4- 5 stories of a typical building..so dont think we need worry about floods here.... however when it rains heavy due to the limited street grids in our rural postion we get quite a torrent of water heads to a grid near our front garden as its the first for hundreds of yards and half way down a slight slope........but our outlook to the front is mainly distant roof tops and fields.
its amazing how many cherished belongings like amusement machines, cash & antiques etc. must be getting flooded in areas like new orleans and new york just now and when you watch the news how many cars and full homes get swept away in the flood waters.. even here in the UK theres frequently a river burst somewhere.. we replaced a pooltable in a guys house in St Asaph when the river Elwy bust its banks and two years later he got same again 10ft under water his insurance must be chronic ..
and again how much crap just gets washed down stream to the sea ? paper wood plastic in fact anything that floats or not nailed down and light enough to travel the surf waves.. when the tide came over the sea wall at Towyn in 199o Knightlys funfair waltzers were in the direct line of the breach, smashed to bits, along with dozens of static caravans on the adjacent holiday parks and two of the ride cars travelled almost two miles into a field and a garden half way down Gors road and the water covered over 5 square miles and varied in depth from 3- 4 ft in the resort to a foot deep almost over the whole area as its very flat and sits below sea level anytime the high tide is at a higher than average level.. the majority of residences in the area are just bungalows too so devastating to see water up to window level ..... and you see it regular now when an area floods just with rainfall ..
maybe i have too much time on my hands at present and can only blame 'Chris' for starting such great discussion topics whether arcade related or not its what a lot of us think and rarely speak out because its an English thing not to complain enough unless you are a habitual complainer and theres plenty of them too!
