I’ve got groovy arcade (Linux) installed on a PC.
When using an lcd vga monitor, the blue splash screen and then the red attract mode screen load fine. It then goes into the attract mode front end. If you choose a game, the lcd tells you it can’t display the arcade mode (it’s set to arcade_15 for my cab)

If I plug the vga into my arcade ASD into the cab, I get a blank screen where I should have the front end. If you press return to get a game going, it displays perfectly.

How do I get the front end to display on my arcade monitor? I’m presuming it’s an attract mode / groovy arcade setting O need to set?

On my cabinet if I exit attract mode it then gives all the options to change all the settings including video etc All in a dos like screen menu etc

I use a normal LCD and groovymame

You won't get my problem because you are running on LCD. If I choose LCD as the display system it all works fine on an LCD, but I need the front end AND games to run on an arcade crt screen.

I have tried different versions of arcade screens from the setup menus - none work with frontend AND games.

I've just installed the latest version and it displayed ok while installing on the arcade monitor, but when it restarted it didn't display the front end on the arcade monitor. Choosing a game (blind) it works as it should do.

I have a feeling that groovy arcade doesn't like my Jamma ASD adapters (they are similar to jpacs)

I've had a little play around with my cabinet and its not obvious at all unfortuanetly.

I remember vaguely last time it was fussy about which of the DVI's I used. I had a mare getting it from 15 to 31 !!

Oddly I am after a Jamma ASD to replace my groovymame set up which currently has a jpac in it and did deffo work at 15K !

If you give me a clue what you want me to check happy to do so. I have a rpi setup that runs on 15K that uses a jpac too.

I doubt the asd is causing you an issue.

Sorry cant help any more, as I remember being pain in ass last time :(

I have my Jamma ASD set to 15/31khz (so it can presumably display vga screens on the arcade monitor)

There must be a setting for the front end to run in CRT mode rather than VGA (PC) mode?

The front end is blank until you (blindly) launch a game, then it kicks in to the correct arcade res and displays properly.

If I could just find the setting to change, I think we'll be golden - but can't help wondering why it isn't just working after the install? I actually installed the new version ON THE CAB and the CRT was displaying the setup screens fine.

I had this issue with Groovy Mame with Attract Mode but it was on Windows. The solution was to enter services, then go to AMD External Events, then select properties and stop it and then disable it. Not sure about Linux but I guess it is similar?

New PC arrived today so had a crack at getting it working, ran into the same issue so made a quick vid to show the steps that got me to 15Khz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-D3o4Ux07s

If you get stuck like Vic this may fix your issue: Setup menu - Setup (Video, audio, network, etc.) - Video Setup - Custom and Presets Video Mode - Xorg/Desktop - Manual video mode - type in '320 240 60' and press OK then reboot from the main menu (you don't need to type the quotes in the video mode)
